Succulent Leaf Stacks
Original Art. Watercolor and Ink on cotton paper. Painting is 6”x 8”.
Frame is 12” x 14”
Jade, aloe, stonecrop, kalanchoe, cactus and agave, just to name a few. Thick, waxy 'leaves' that are touch vessels for holding water that only comes on occasion. Amazingly evolved organisms that are made for withstanding some of the harshest of environments. Worthy of admiration, worthy of honor, worthy of an altar. An altar draped in garlands, made from the leaves of the succulents. Those garlands will eventually sprout roots, because succulents have more strength, stamina and will to live than anyone else I know.
But it's abstract. The meaning is not in what I see. It's about what you think, or rather how we think about it differently. Colors, shapes, tones and lines effect us individually. Abstraction is a solitary experience, not a collective one.
